Privat jets and Formula 1

Following the roaring success of Miami’s first F1 race on Sunday, the motorsport season of 2022 is well and truly underway. With all events fully open to spectators again, the team at SuperFly have compiled a guide for where to land your private jet this summer for all those aviation geeks looking to combine their need for speed with luxury travel.

  1. Spanish Grand Prix

One of the oldest F1 in the world, the Spanish Grand Prix is currently held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya and is one of the most highly anticipated events in Catalonia. The track is located close to the City, giving you the perfect opportunity for a quick break either side of race day. Explore all the culture, beaches and food that Barcelona has to offer.

When: May 22

Airports: Barcelona El Prat, Girona

2. Monaco Grand Prix

Monaco Formula One Grand Prix

Undoubtedly the most prestigious and glamorous circuit in F1, the Monaco Grand Prix attracts international celebrities and motorheads alike. In a league of its own, the event attracts a high volume of private jet and helicopter traffic. As Monaco itself does not have an airport, it is common to land your jet at Nice Côte d’Azur or Cannes Mandelieu, before hopping on a helicopter to the Monte Carlo heliport, arriving in true style at the heart of the action. With private jet prices varying significantly, contact SuperFly to find the most competitive quote.

When: May 27-29

Airports: Nice Côte d’Azur or Cannes Mandelieu

3. British Grand Prix

The Silverstone track has hosted every Formula One season since 1950, and combines tradition with thrill. Located in the heart of English countryside in Northamptonshire County, the track is easily accessible both internationally and within the UK. The closest airport is Cranfield Airport, only 29km from Silverstone. Other popular airports include Luton, Oxford and Birmingham, although it is worth noting that Luton is one of the busiest for private traffic.

4. Austrian Grand Prix

The Austrian Grand Prix takes place over 71 laps at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. A picturesque setting, nestled under the Styrian mountains, the track is small but stealthy. The closest airport is Graz Airport, 86km from the race track.

5. French Grand Prix

Just 10km North of the French Riviera, the French Grand Prix is often overshadowed by its flashy neighbour in Monaco, yet it is prestigious in its own right. The first official “Grand Prix”, the current race track is the Circuit Paul Ricard at Le Castellet. Most flights arrive into Marseille Province, around 65km from the circuit, but if you opt for private jet hire, you can fly into Le Castellet Airport, which adjoins the circuit itself!
